Precast Panel Edge Formwork technology has evolved over time. Precast Panel Edge Formwork is often referred to as “shutters”.
The general concept is that this formwork /shutters will form the perimeter shape of a wall, and hold the concrete in the desired position to form the concrete wall element.
The next evolution was making a shutter out of plywood which was supported by shutter props, steel right angles etc. These were normally 600mm high to allow workers to step over them and work inside. It is also a number divisible by most of the common panel sizes. This negated the need for a climbing bracket but as the biggest panels were on the bottom of a stack needed an infill to fill up the space. As this had already been done for window and door penetrations these solutions were expanded. These solutions included using timber planks, building plywood boxes, and the use of polystyrene blocks.
