Concrete Aspros (also known as Concrete Spacers) are used in concrete structures to support reinforcement steel so that the nominal cover between the reinforcement and formwork is maintained before and after concreting.
Hence, the concrete aspros become a part of the final structure.
Concrete aspros are made of the same material as the poured concrete. Therefore, thermal expansion and contraction are equal. And because they are the same material, the concrete and spacers should bond. Thereby, eliminating any gaps. This is especially important if there is a chance of water ingress.
Moreover, concrete aspros help maintain the material integrity and uniformity of the concrete and provide a cover over the reinforcement that protects against corrosion.
Concrete Aspros are especially helpful in scenarios where the weight of the reinforcing bar would otherwise crush a plastic bar chair and compromise the concrete structure.

View MoreThe standard used in Australia and New Zealand for concrete aspros is the AS:NZS 2425:2015. Actech’s wide range of concrete aspros have their own unique qualities and they meet all the required quality standards. Some of Actech’s concrete aspros, such as the AUSFIX HD and the Conac Brick, boast a strength rating of greater than 300 kg.
The concrete aspros fulfill the requirements of all exposure classes. Our concrete mix is tested by a NATA laboratory on a regular basis to check for:
Furthermore, Actech’s concrete aspros also comply with:
All of Actech’s concrete aspros exceed the minimum standard of 65 mPa.
Design standards for concrete structures require spacers to be located at every metre (or less) along the length of reinforcing bars to ensure that the bars remain in place during concreting.
More often than not, concrete aspros are available with galvanized tie wires. They are highly effective in ensuring that the heavy reinforcement is held in the right position.
